MASK UPDATE 1-17-22

January 18, 2022

1-17-22

Good Evening,

The link below (is a result report regarding the masks that were sent to the majority of schools and the controversy regarding the efficacy) as well as the following message sent (by Helene Bettencourt, DESE) went to Superintendents, Charter School Leaders, Assistant Superintendents, Collaborative Directors, and Leaders of Approved Special Education Schools,

As we updated you last week, some of the KN95 masks that were distributed to districts had not been tested at MIT, as previously thought by MEMA.

MEMA engaged MIT to do testing on these masks, and today we received the results. According to the MIT testing, the KN95 masks in the shipments that were labeled “non-medical,” had a filtration efficiency rate of over 98%.

Please see attached report from MIT. Below.

The testing took place last Tuesday 1-11-22.

Please read and as I have stated in the past, you as an individual make a decision on they type of mask you are going to wear. Have a good week all!!!
